We have heard that mercury is involved with autism & ADHD.

We have heard that yeast is involved with autism & ADHD.

We have heard that food additives are involved with autism & ADHD.

We have heard that gluten and casein are involved with autism & ADHD.

We have heard that zinc, essential fatty acids, and other nutritional deficiencies are involved with autism & ADHD.

We have heard that genetics is involved with autism & ADHD.

We have wondered how our kids can have nutritional deficiencies when we feed them the same foods their brothers and sisters eat - and their brothers and sisters are fine.

We have wondered what is going on, and found it confusing.

At last, we have a study that - although not dealing with gluten or casein here - puts much of the above together in a manner that makes a lot of sense -- and the authors were kind enough to publish it as an open article in advance of its publication in Behavioral & Brain Functions, October 27, 2009.

Vaccine Ingredients Calculator

The National Vaccine Information Center has provided an easy-to-use calculator to let you plug in each type or brand of vaccine you are considering and find out exactly how much mercury you will be exposed to, and how it compares with what the EPA says is a safe level. At this time, it is set up for only the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu shots, but hopefully it will be expanded to include all the recommended vaccines. It is immediately useful, however, since you can ask your doctor what exact vaccine he proposes to give you, and you can decide if you want it based on the amount of mercury in it. See the calculator here, but before using it, see the tutorial at the bottom right of the page. It's easy, it's dramatic - and it could save your life.

Pure Facts Archives

Pure Facts is the newsletter of the Feingold Association, keeping members up-to-date on their Foodlist information and bringing them relevant news and scientific information ten times a year since 1981.

We are making past issues available to everybody through an archive, and - although it is only completed up to the end of 1999 so far - I hope you will find it as fascinating to read as I did. I confess that what is slowing down the process is my tendency to stop and reread the articles as I am uploading the newsletters.

Although downloading them randomly will result in interesting reading, feel free to search the Combined Table of Contents link to find specific articles of interest to you.

Start at the Shopping Cart by clicking on "Download Newsletters" or go directly to The Archives.

The Holidays are Coming!

Holiday Survival Tips From Our Members to You

Use unscented candles - white or with natural color. If you see silver-colored fibers in the wick, hold the tip of the wick and rub a piece of paper across it. If it makes a mark like a pencil, then it contains lead.
Through our Members Message Board, we asked for ideas to help make your holidays Feingold-safe but hassle-free (well, relatively so, anyway).

See some of our members' tips here, and see more suggestions in your November issue of Pure Facts.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving!
