EASY BAKE OVEN
Kids of all ages, boys and girls alike, love making their own treats. The Easy Bake Oven has changed over the years, but the excitement of making these little treats has not. Below are some Feingold Friendly recipes to use in your Easy Bake Oven.
Easy Bake Oven Brownies
2-1/2 T. sugar
2-1/2 T. flour
1 tsp. oil
1/8 tsp. vanilla
4 tsp. chocolate syrup
Blend all ingredients until the batter is smooth. Pour batter into greased and floured toy cake pan. Bake as directed in child oven.
Easy Bake Chocolate Cake
6 tsp. flour
4 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa
3/4 tsp. shortening
1 pinch salt
6 tsp. milk
Mix all dry ingredients, slowly add milk. Pour into greased baking pan that comes with the toy oven. Bake as directed in children’s oven.
Note: For a vanilla (yellow) cake, omit the cocoa and add a drop or two of vanilla with the milk. Makes 1 serving.
Buttercream Frosting Mix
2 c. confectioner’s sugar, sifted
3 T. instant non-fat milk powder
6 T. butter
Combine confectioner’s sugar and powdered milk, mix well. Cut in butter with pastry blender. Spoon about 1/3 cup mixture into each of 8 small containers or Ziploc bags. Seal tightly. Label with date and contents. Store in cool dry place. Use within 12 weeks.
To Use:
1 package Butter Cream Frosting mix
3/4 tsp. water
In a small bowl, combine mix and water. Stir well with a spoon until smooth and creamy. Add a drop or two of vanilla if desired. Makes about 1/4 cup of frosting. Makes 8 Packages
Children’s Cookie Mix
1 1/2 c. quick-cooking oats
3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. brown sugar — packed
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
In a medium bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda and brown sugar. Stir to blend. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles corn meal. Spoon about 1/2 cup mixture into each of 8 small containers or zip-lock bags. Seal bags tightly. Label with date and contents. Store in a cool dry place. Use within 12 weeks. Makes 8 packages of Children’s Cookie Mix. Each package makes 9 cookies.

1 package Children’s Cookie Mix
2 tsp. water
