.I don’t know about you, but I love giving food gifts during the holidays. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Hot Cocoa Mix
10 2/3 c. dry milk
4 c. powdered sugar
1 c. cocoa or carob powder
Mix all ingredients well. Place in clean mason jars decorated for the holidays. Place the recipe on or along with the jar.

3 T. Hot Chocolate Mix
1 c. hot water

Chippers In a Jar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1-1/2 c. chocolate chips
1-qt. canning jar with lid and seal
1) Mix the salt and baking soda in with the flour, then layer the ingredients in the jar in the order listed, with the chocolate chips on top. You can seal the top of your jar with a Christmas screw-on lid or use scissors to cut a 9 inch-diameter circle from Christmas material. Place over lid and secure with rubber band. Tie on a raffia or ribbon bow to cover rubber band.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe (on a card)

1 c. unsalted butter
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 375°. Sift dry ingredients through a colander to separate the chocolate chips from other ingredients. Beat butter in a medium bowl until creamy. Beat sifted ingredients into butter until blended. In a small bowl, beat egg with vanilla. Mix beaten egg mixture into butter mixture until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop teaspoon-fulls of batter, spaced well apart, onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 4 dozen.

Brownies In a Jar
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1 pinch salt
1 c. brown sugar, packed
3/4 to 1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Make the mix:
In a 1-quart canning jar, layer the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt (a wide-mouth canning funnel makes this a little easier). Shake jar just slightly to level layer. Add the brown sugar, nuts and chocolate chips.
Brownies In a Jar (on a card)
1 stick butter, soft
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour an 7 x 11-inch or 8-inch square baking pan. Melt 1 stick (4 ounces) butter; let cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 egg, the melted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add contents of the canning jar and mix with a wooden spoon until well blended. All dry ingredients should be moistened. Spread batter in prepared baking pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
