At our house, my family absolutely love pie!  Everykind.. well, maybe not chicken pot pie, lol  But Apple, Banana Cream, Blueberry, Cherry, Chocolate Cream, Coconut Cream, Dutch Apple and the list goes on and on.  The crust for your pie is so important. I have tried all kinds of crusts and have found the following recipe to be the easiest and best tasting around!

Easy pie crust

2 ½ cups                               all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

1 tsp                                      salt        

1 tsp                                      sugar

1 cup (2-sticks)                    cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

¼ to ½ cup                           ice water

 

1) Place flour, salt and sugar in the bowl of a food processor, and process for a few seconds to combine.

2) Add the butter pieces to the flour mixture and process until the mixture resembles coarse meal, about 10 seconds.

3) Add the ice water in a slow stream, through the feed tube with the machine running, just until the dough holds together. Do not process more than 30 seconds.

4) Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Divide into 2 equal pieces and place on 2 separate sheets of plastic wrap. Flatten each to form a disk. Wrap, and refrigerate at least 1 hour before using.

 

Additional Tips:  You can use the pie crust uncooked for most pie recipes or you can pre-bake.
